DIVERDOATSIE GRONINGEN THE NETHERLANDS Type: SATB Founded: 2024 # Wonderful Supporting members 0 # Wonderful members 40 ABOUT Seizing the opportunity that Roze Zaterdag (Pink Saturday) in Groningen offers, to showcase a mixed LGBTQIA choir: this was and is the goal of Project Choir DIVERDOATSIE. The choir takes its name from the local Groningen dialect word for 'a pleasant pastime', but we’ve altered the spelling to reflect our celebration of diversity. Under the inspiring leadership of conductor Cobien Nieuwpoort, the project choir has grown since its launch in September 2023 into an ultra-mixed choir of 56 singers. We are different from each other in many important ways. Still, we have in common that singing is our way of celebrating and, where necessary, fighting for our sexual freedom and gender diversity. In the autumn, we – the choir committee, the conductor, all singers, and other interested parties – will explore our next project. If you would like to think along, sing along, or contribute in another way, send an email to projectkoorrozezaterdaggrunn@gmail.com and we will invite you too. mostly classical, some rock/pop/musicals WEBSITE INSTAGRAM TWITTER FACEBOOK 2024 Manage your Choir information Now you can change, add or remove the information about your choir Want to change your profile picture? - QORO
QORO TURIN ITALY Type: SATB Founded: 2018 # Wonderful Supporting members 0 # Wonderful members 30 ABOUT Il Qoro è il primo coro LGBTQIE di Torino! Facciamo sentire la nostra voce!!! POSSO VENIRE A CANTARE? Ottima intuizione! mostly rock/pop/musicals, some classical WEBSITE INSTAGRAM TWITTER FACEBOOK 2018 Manage your Choir information Now you can change, add or remove the information about your choir Want to change your profile picture? - LOUD AND PROUD
LOUD & PROUD EDINBURGH UNITED KINGDOM Type: SATB Founded: 2005 # Wonderful Supporting members 0 # Wonderful members 60 ABOUT The choir’s origins were found in a singing class set up by the LGBT Centre for Health and Wellbeing and run by Emily Isaacson. Following a performance in Sala, the group grew to 25 and formed a fully-fledged choir under the leadership of Karen Dietz. We now have over 60 members. Our repertoire is as diverse as our membership and includes simple rounds, popular music, traditional music, light classics, festive and seasonal songs, early American shape-note songs, lesbian/gay anthems, and of course, show tunes. We have a talented team of musicians who work with Kathleen to plan and arrange our growing repertoire. Musical Director: Kathleen Cronie began her studies at The University of Aberdeen, graduating with an MA in French and Gaelic Studies, before moving on to complete a Bachelor of Music Degree at The Ian Tomlin Academy of Music at Edinburgh Napier University, graduating with first class honours and also winning The Harold Gray Prize for Singing. - MANNENKOORTS
Mannenkoorts is a small Dutch a cappella group. Based in The Hague, our eight members come from a variety of Dutch cities such as The Hague, Rotterdam, Delft and Gouda. Mannenkoorts is a combination of the Dutch words mannenkoor (male choir) and koorts (fever), and is best translated as "gay fever". We try to combine beautiful singing with movement and smart costumes. Since the start of Mannenkoorts, we have worked with our musical director René Jakobs and choreographer Hanna Samson. n/a WEBSITE INSTAGRAM TWITTER FACEBOOK 2002 Manage your Choir information Now you can change, add or remove the information about your choir Want to change your profile picture? - MANCHESTER PROUD CHORUS
MANCHESTER PROUD CHORUS MANCHESTER UNITED KINGDOM Type: SATB Founded: 2000 # Wonderful Supporting members 1 # Wonderful members 75 ABOUT The Manchester Proud Chorus (formerly Manchester Lesbian and Gay Chorus) is an inclusive community choir, where all are welcome, whatever their sexual or gender identity to sing with the North West’s Premier LGBTQI+ choir. For more than 20 years we have raised our voices together joyfully celebrating our diversity through music. We are a non-auditioned, community choir that aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for people to meet and sing together, and to promote a positive image of Greater Manchester’s growing LGBTQI+ community. Most importantly we have fun and support each other. We have travelled the world singing together, performing nationally (London, Brighton, Cardiff and Leeds), across Europe (Berlin, Paris, Copenhagen, Dublin and Munich) and beyond (Montreal). We have sung for HM The Queen, for Disney, and in memory of our beloved Victoria Wood. We have also shared the stage with artists such as Carlos Acosta, Lulu, Tim Arnold and Lindsey Kemp, and Jane McDonald. As a result of an homophobic attack on a Manchester Tram in 2014, we led the ‘Safe to Sing’ campaign, singing on trams across Manchester. We were also deeply moved and honoured to be one of the choirs singing at Manchester Together memorial event for the victims of the M.E.N Arena bombing. Throughout lockdown we continued to sing together on Zoom, eventually meeting outdoors, when rules allowed. Over recent years, we have come to realise that our previous name did not reflect the diversity of the community we embrace as a chorus. After a long consultation process and lots of listening to each other, we agreed unanimously to change our name to the Manchester Proud Chorus. We are ready to welcome new members into our community. Just come along to one of our rehearsals and have a sing. You don’t need to be able to read music (many of our members don’t). - DIVERSITY CHOIR
DIVERSITY CHOIR LONDON UNITED KINGDOM Type: SATB Founded: 1992 # Wonderful Supporting members 0 # Wonderful members 50 ABOUT Diversity Choir is London’s original lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community chamber choir. Formed in 1992, the choir wanted to sing a real variety of music; this includes music from Medieval chants to contemporary 21st Century composers such as Jonathan Dove and we balance this with a lively enthusiasm for music from a spectrum of other genres: folk, show tunes, jazz and popular music from the Fifties to today. We have grown and developed over the last two decades from a small group of friends to a friendly 50-strong choir, with recent performances at Various Voices in Dublin, St. John’s Waterloo and the Big Wedding weekend at the Royal Festival Hall. In addition to our concerts, we are also actively engaged, together with London’s other LGBT singing groups, in a wide variety of community festivals, events and projects. mostly classical, some rock/pop/musicals WEBSITE INSTAGRAM TWITTER FACEBOOK 2006 Manage your Choir information Now you can change, add or remove the information about your choir Want to change your profile picture?
