- ROZENKOOR
ROZENKOOR AMSTERDAM THE NETHERLANDS Type: SATB Founded: 1992 # Wonderful Supporting members 0 # Wonderful members 23 ABOUT The Rozenkoor was founded in May of 1992 through an advertisement placed by the COC, the Dutch national organization for homosexual men and lesbian women. The enthusiastic response showed a clear need for a choir where Gay men and women could sing together. And so was founded a mixed choir unique to the Gay world. Each year, we put on a large production for an audience of around 200 people. Next to that, we regularly organize Christmas "diner chantants", projects with other Gay choirs, and we perform at major Gay and anti-discrimination events (such as the 5th anniversary of Gay marriages at the Town Hall), neighborhood parties, psychiatric facilities, funerals (alas), weddings, and birthdays. The name Rozenkoor has a double meaning: "rozen" means pink, the symbolic color of the Gay movement, after the pink triangles homosexuals were forced to wear during WWII. It also means roses, and as chance would have it, the COC building, where the choir rehearsed for many years, was in the Rozenstraat, the street of roses. And so you get the Pink Choir of Roses! The choir's identity may be pink, but from the very beginning bisexual and heterosexual singers have felt very much at home here due to the openness which typifies our ambience. The Rozenkoor has around 25 members and as many men as women. We have a very active membership with many committees: Creative, PR, Sponsoring, Editorial, etc. We also have a yearly magazine "The Rose". Our repertoire consists of songs with two to six-part harmony. These vary from classical to pop, solemn to exuberant, Dutch to Japanese, some are acapella, others with piano accompaniment. During our performances, we choreographically emphasize these different aspects. We regularly adapt lyrics to already existing songs to better suit our character. One of these, our 'Credo', is a call for freedom and acceptance for all people, put to the music of the Dutch national anthem. mostly rock/pop/musicals, some classical WEBSITE INSTAGRAM TWITTER FACEBOOK 2000 Manage your Choir information Now you can change, add or remove the information about your choir Want to change your profile picture? - KAUPUNGIN NAISET
KAUPUNGIN NAISET HELSINKI FINLAND Type: SSAA Founded: 2014 # Wonderful Supporting members 0 # Wonderful members 20 ABOUT "Women of the City" is a Helsinki-lesbian choir that sings Petra Lampinen composed poetry music. The only lesbian choir in Finland. Songs about love, life, and the ends of both. Lampinen kutsui yhteen tuntemiaan laulajia, joiden muodostamasta hätäkuorosta syntyi Kaupungin Naiset (Townswomen). Omia lauluja on kertynyt jo yli 20 kappaletta. Kaupungin Naisten helmikuussa 2017 julkaistu, Mä haluun häät -musiikkivideo, juhlisti 1.3.2017 voimaan tullutta avioliittolakia. Mä haluun häät -runo on alun perin julkaistu Anja Erämajan runokokoelmassa Ehkä liioittelen vähän. Musiikkitalon konsertin jälkeen Kaupungin Naiset on ehtinyt laulaa jo mm. seuraavissa tapahtumissa: Queertune – Nordic LHBTIQ Choir Festival, Burlesque Festival 2017, Vihdoinkin vihille -tilaisuus, Eurogames Helsinki 2016, Helsinki Pride 2015 - 2018, Pirkanmaan Pride, Turku Pride, Taidehalli, Tavastia, Valtimonteatteri, Kallio kukkii ja Kallio kipinöi -tapahtumat sekä lisäksi kymmenissä muissa tapahtumissa ympäri Suomea. contemporary Finnish poetry composed by our choir leader Petra Lampinen WEBSITE INSTAGRAM TWITTER FACEBOOK 2017 Manage your Choir information Now you can change, add or remove the information about your choir Want to change your profile picture? - 10TH FESTIVAL VARIOUS VOICES 2001 BERLIN
May 20 - 26, 2001 10TH FESTIVAL VARIOUS VOICES 2001 BERLIN 56 Choirs from 10 Countries and 1300 singers DA CAPO AL DENTE We won't let ourselves be banned from singing, thought a handful of music-loving Bremen lesbians and gays in the spring of 1997 and founded a choir with the name Da capo al dente, which is still disputed but undoubtedly has a pleasant sound. The fairly mixed ensemble currently consists of thirty singers - women with a stable two-thirds majority - and has hardly any style of vocal music, from the late medieval madrigal to contemporary tone poetry, from African rhythms to the immortal masterpieces of Western pop culture arts left out. Every note a hit is the ambitious goal that Da Capo Al Dente has been able to approach with his occasional appearances in the regional scene. The unwavering beat of Christiane Fricke and - since the beginning of 2000 - Christian Höffling has always proved to be extremely helpful. The choir does not only compete for the favor of its mainly tragic audience with good intentions in terms of musical brilliance, but also with relevant repertoire. The carefully revised evergreens, in which the joys and sorrows of being a homosexual are sympathetically sung about, include the wistful memories of a young lesbian of her first summer as well as the ballad of the lonely homosexual, for whose poignant composition we would like to once again express our heartfelt thanks want to thank Udo Jürgens. Anyone who would like to hear us has two opportunities to do so as part of Various Voices 2001: we will be performing together with "Deep C Divas" (Manchester), "Der gemischte Damenchor" (Berlin), "Club Nachtigall" (Hamburg) and the "PhilHOMOniker" (Munich) on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2001 4:00 + 6:00 p.m. in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in the Tiergarten - bus line 100 - and on Friday, May 25th, 2001 at 9:00 p.m. together with the Choirs "Die Zauberflöten" from Cologne and "Mélo 'Men" from Paris in the Max-Beckmann-Saal, Luxemburgerstr. 20, 13353 Berlin, UBahnhof Amrumer Str./U9 Tickets are available at: www.variousvoices.de or 030/61 65 99 31 CLUB NACHTIGALL DEEP C DIVAS DER GEMISCHTE DAMENCHOR DIE ZAUBERFLOTEN MÉLO 'MEN PHILHOMONIKER

Read and share the bid documents Look at the video to complement the bid Brussels is an open-minded city, in a country always at the forefront of LGBTQ+ rights and ranked second in the ILGA-Europe Rainbow Index 2021. By singing together in the capital of Europe’s 500 million citizens, we’ll deliver a powerful message and a strong signal aimed at countries where our community faces repeated attacks. Various Voices Brussels 2026 will be a joyful festival, with plenty of time for leisure and sharing. But why should we wait until 2026 to have fun with our friends? As soon as Various Voices Bologna 2023 is over, we’ll start involving all Legato choir members in the creative process of the 2026 festival. We will twin choirs for online rehearsals or live collaborations. We will create together the main shows of the festival through virtual meetings to select repertoire, share scores or write scripts. Two shows will play with Belgian culture and stereotypes in a fun way: “Kings & Queens of Belgium'' because Belgium is a kingdom, and we want to make it a Queerdom; and “The Treachery of Images'' to look beyond appearances, like in the Belgian surrealist painter Magritte’s artwork. The culmination of the festival will be the “Let Your Heart Be Heard” night, outdoors near the European Parliament. This concert will illustrate our history and the fight for our rights. At the end, we will together perform a giant LGBTQ+ choral work composed for the festival. Various Voices Brussels 2026 will also be a festival committed to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals: socially, environmentally and economically sustainable; inclusive; accessible; with zero carbon footprint. So, where is the best place for the next festival? In Brussels, of course! Let’s work together to create the most amazing festival ever! Sing Out Brussels! (The Fabulous Queer Choir) cannot wait to welcome you to the vibrant heart of Europe, and help you discover the fabulous welcome and warmth of its residents! BACK TO VV2026 BIDS
