Seizing the opportunity that Roze Zaterdag (Pink Saturday) in Groningen offers, to showcase a mixed LGBTQIA choir: this was and is the goal of Project Choir DIVERDOATSIE. The choir takes its name from the local Groningen dialect word for 'a pleasant pastime', but we’ve altered the spelling to reflect our celebration of diversity. Under the inspiring leadership of conductor Cobien Nieuwpoort, the project choir has grown since its launch in September 2023 into an ultra-mixed choir of 56 singers. 

We are different from each other in many important ways. Still, we have in common that singing is our way of celebrating and, where necessary, fighting for our sexual freedom and gender diversity. In the autumn, we – the choir committee, the conductor, all singers, and other interested parties – will explore our next project.
